Recently, on Wednesday 8th January, Jio launched a new very useful service of Wi-Fi calling, with this you can make a voice or video call without signal. After testing for a few months, Jio launched this service to counter Airtel Wi-Fi calling. Airtel Wi-Fi calling was limited to some major models of companies like Samsung, OnePlus, Apple and Xiaomi, but Jio offered Wi-Fi calling over 150 models. It is very useful in areas of low connectivity or in remote areas.
This service is free of cost as we are using data through Wi-Fi connection but requires a strong and fast connection. The conversation made in this call may delay by 1-2 seconds. The voice and video quality of this call is very nice. It takes about 1MB of Wi-Fi data for 1 minute of voice calling and 6MB for 1 minute of video calling.
How to use this service?
Enable Wi-Fi calling on your device by going to settings and avail this service. This service is not available for all models. It requires the in-built feature of Wi-Fi in the device.
Airtel launched Wi-Fi calling service in Delhi NCR and further it covered major metropolitan cities like Kolkata and Mumbai.
