What is Wordpress?

Wordpress is an open-source software or file which can be used to build a website. It is based on PHP. It is free to download but this file that you download needs to be uploaded on a web hosting and need a domain name. You can also use wordpress without a web hosting and domain name but it has some restrictions like you can not use plugins and con not edit code of the website. So you won't be able to monetize it also.

Wordpress says that it powers 35% of the web. Yes, Wordpress is better than Google Blogger because if you monetize any website on Wordpress with Adsense it gives you a Non-Hosted Account which means your earnings will be a little bit higher than that one with a Hosted Account. Also, some very useful plugins like Yoast SEO plugin are also available for free with wordpress.

As we can see in the above image there is a download button given to download the latest version of Wordpress but this is a manual way of installation. Nowadays, in almost every paid and free web hosting there is a feature for direct installation of Wordpress.

There are a lot of web hosting options available. Some of them are specially for wordpress. Wordpress is as simple as Blogger but has a lot more to explore and learn. Wordpress is a very huge topic to write but this is a short post.
